2026年3月7日から12日にかけて、初めてインドを訪問してきました。
今回の主な目的は、インド工科大学グワハティ校（IITG）で開催された「Japan-NER Academia-Industry Technology Cooperation Symposium 2026 (JNSTCS 2026)」への参加と、現地でのラボツアー、そして自身の研究発表です。

From March 7th to 12th, 2026, I had the opportunity to visit India for the very first time. The primary purpose of this trip was to participate in the "Japan-NER Academia-Industry Technology Cooperation Symposium 2026 (JNSTCS 2026)" held at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG), where I conducted a lab tour and delivered a research presentation.

私にとって、デリーもグワハティも、そしてインドという国自体もすべてが初めての経験でした。出発前は正直なところ、現地の生活環境や治安に対して「ビクビク」とした不安を抱えての出発でした。しかし、実際に足を踏み入れてみると、滞在先となった大学のゲストハウスは非常に過ごしやすく、大きなトラブルもなく無事に全日程を終えることができました。もちろん、事前の情報通り空気の汚れが肌で感じられるほど強く、その点はやはり気になりましたが、それ以上に印象に残ったのは「食」の素晴らしさです。本場でいただくカレーはどれも本当においしく、インドの奥深い食文化の一端に触れることができたのは大きな収穫でした。

As this was my first time visiting Delhi, Guwahati, and India as a whole, I must admit that I was quite apprehensive before my departure, harboring some concerns regarding the local living environment and safety. However, upon arrival, I found the university guest house to be extremely comfortable, and I was able to complete the entire itinerary smoothly without any major issues. While the air pollution was indeed as noticeable as I had heard, the "food culture" was a highlight that far outweighed those concerns. Every authentic curry I tasted was truly delicious, and experiencing the depth of India's culinary heritage was a significant highlight of the trip.

3月10日のシンポジウムでは、以下のタイトルで口頭発表を行いました。
Title: Data-driven Engineering for a Sustainable Future
—From Industrial Process Optimization to Smart Infrastructure Maintenance—

On March 10th, I gave an oral presentation at the symposium titled:
"Data-driven Engineering for a Sustainable Future —From Industrial Process Optimization to Smart Infrastructure Maintenance—"

持続可能な未来に向けたデータ駆動型工学の重要性について、産業プロセスの最適化からインフラメンテナンスまでを俯瞰した内容をお話ししました。
発表自体は無事に終えることができましたが、一つ大きな反省点として残ったのは「聴講者の少なさ」です。インドの高い熱量を感じるラボツアーの後だっただけに、自身のセッションでの集客力不足を痛感しました。
研究内容の質はもちろんのこと、いかにして現地の学生や研究者の興味を惹きつけるか、プレゼンテーションの構成や周知の仕方に工夫の余地があると感じています。「次はもっと多くの人に聞いてもらえるように頑張ろう」と、新たなモチベーションを得る機会となりました。

In this talk, I provided an overview of the importance of data-driven engineering in achieving a sustainable future, covering topics from the optimization of industrial processes to infrastructure maintenance. Although the presentation itself went well, I was left with one major point of reflection: the low attendance. Coming right after a high-energy lab tour where I felt the immense passion of the local students, the lack of "drawing power" for my own session was a humbling realization. Beyond the quality of the research itself, I felt there is significant room for improvement in how I structure my presentations and promote them to attract the interest of local students and researchers. This experience has given me fresh motivation to strive for a larger audience next time.

今回の訪問では、IITGの活気ある研究現場を肌で感じ、岐阜大学との連携の深まりを実感することができました。初めてのインドは刺激に満ちており、研究者としてもエンジニアとしても教育者としても、視野が広がる5日間となりました。

Through this visit, I was able to experience the vibrant research environment at IITG firsthand and felt the strengthening of the partnership with Gifu University. My first trip to India was truly stimulating, and these five days have broadened my perspective as a researcher, an engineer, and an educator.

今回の経験を糧に、次回の国際会議やシンポジウムでは、より多くの方々と議論を交わせるよう精進してまいります。現地でお世話になった皆様、本当にありがとうございました。

Building on this experience, I will continue to devote myself to my work so that I can engage in discussions with even more people at future international conferences and symposia. My sincere thanks to everyone who supported me during my stay.
