About us

Life of Glycoproteins

Welcome to Systems Glycobiology Laboratory (Fujita Laboratory).
We are interested in the “Life of Glycoproteins”, which includes the biosynthesis, transport, and degradation of glycans and glycoproteins, and their regulations.

More than half of proteins synthesized in cells are glycosylated. Glycans are modified to proteins and affect the protein folding, transport, stability, and fuction. We are investigating the biosynthesis, transport, and degradation of glycoproteins using cytogenetics, biochemical and cell biological approaches, and bioinformatics. Furthermore, we aim to establish cell lines suitable for the production of biopharmaceutical proteins by controlling factors necessary for the glycoprotein biosynthesis and transport.

We welcome new members. Please contact us if you are interested.
