General information
We cordially invite you to participate in the 13th International Conference on the Chemistry of Selenium and Tellurium (ICCST-13), which will be held in Gifu on May 23rd (Monday)–27th (Friday), 2016. The conference follows the successful series of ICCST conferences in New York (1971), Lund (1975), Metz (1979), Birmingham (1983), Oak Ridge (1987), Osaka (1991), Aachen (1997), Aguas de Sao Pedro (2000), Mumbai (2004), Ludz (2007), Oulu (2010), and Cardiff (2013).
The venue for the upcoming ICCST was determined at the international advisory board meeting on July 23, 2013 at Cardiff. Since Osaka, Japan first hosted the ICCST conference in 1991, this will be the second time for Japan to serve as host country. Although the last 25 years have seen dramatic developments in our scientific fields, researchers in various fields have had lesser chance to gather. A conference such as this offers a good opportunity for fellow researchers and experts from interdisciplinary fields of science to share and learn, with the emphasis on ‘selenium and tellurium’ chemistry here in Gifu.
As with previous conferences in this series, the scientific program of ICCST-13 will cover the following topics in selenium and tellurium chemistry:
(1) Synthesis, structure and bonding,
(2) Applications in organic synthesis,
(3) Mechanistic studies,
(4) Coordination chemistry,
(5) Applications in materials science,
(6) Biological Systems, and
(7) Theoretical and spectroscopic studies.
The conference also facilitates exchange of ideas and collaboration among participants. We encourage younger scientists, in particular, to attend the meeting in order to experience first-hand the state of the art technology in the field. The conference program features plenary lectures, invited lectures, oral contribution, poster sessions, and excursions. The conference venue will be at the Nagaragawa Convention Center, which is situated of the Nagara River. We eagerly hope that your participation will contribute to the continuing scientific excellence that has been the common feature of previous conferences and make ICCST-13 another memorable event.
We look forward to seeing you in Gifu in 2016.
Sincerely yours,
Toshiaki Murai (Chairman of ICCST-13)
