Introduction of LDSS analysis
LDSS (Local Distribution of Short Sequence) analysis is a method to find short sequences that localize specific position of a set of sequences. This was developed for extraction of promoter constituents, but the usage is not restricted to promoter analysis.
Many short sequences randomly appear regardless promoter positions (blue), but some sequences appear at specific positions (green and orange). This preferential appearance is a direct reflection of evolutional pressure, and strongly suggests the functionality in transcription or some other biological process.
