Curriculum Policy

The UGSVS curriculum encompasses compulsory common subjects, elective common subjects, compulsory specialized subjects, and elective specialized subjects. With this curriculum, the UGSVS aims to cultivate knowledgeable researchers and highly professional technicians with an international outlook.
 
Common Subjects: Compulsory
・Veterinary Special Lecture I
Acquire basic skills for graduate-level research and learning. Learn research planning methods and ethics, paper-writing and presentation techniques, and communication techniques through interactions with people from member universities.
・Special Lecture in Related Research Fields I, II
Acquire academic knowledge in a wide range of veterinary sciences and cultivate an interdisciplinary outlook.

・Veterinary Special Lecture II, III
Acquire interdisciplinary knowledge and learn about a broad range of studies as a researcher through presentations and workshops.

Acquire technically advanced knowledge from your main academic advisor.
・Special Lecture in Veterinary Science Ib
Acquire technically advanced knowledge from your primary assistant advisor.
・Special Advanced Seminar in Veterinary Science I, II, III
Receive direct research guidance concerning your research from several advisors (main academic advisor, primary assistant advisor, and secondary assistant advisor). Research guidance is primarily structured to help the student to complete his or her thesis.

Learn technically advanced experimental techniques from your primary assistant advisor.
・Advanced Laboratory Experiments in Veterinary Science II
Learn technically advanced experimental techniques from your secondary assistant advisor.
 
Specialized Subjects: Elective
・Special Lecture in Veterinary Science Ic, IIc
Acquire basic English knowledge needed in order to conduct effective research and learn methods for writing theses, giving presentations, and participating in question-and-answer sessions in English.
・Advanced Laboratory Experiments in Veterinary Science III
Take advantage of opportunities to evaluate your own research outcomes and improve your presentation skills at practical training sessions held at collaborative institutes and through a short-term overseas course and overseas field practice.
・Special Lecture in Veterinary Science IIa, IIb, IIIa, IIIb
Acquire technically advanced knowledge in a wide range of fields and cultivate knowledge and skills in the general veterinary sciences.
・Special Advanced Seminar in Veterinary Science IV
Receive direct research guidance about your research from several advisors (main academic advisor, primary assistant advisor, and secondary assistant advisor). Research guidance primarily structured to help the student to complete his or her thesis.
