Purpose of foundation

The United Graduate School of Veterinary Sciences (UGSVS), offers an independent four-year doctoral course. The school was established in 1990 in conjunction with Obihiro University of Agriculture and veterinary Medicine, Iwate University, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, and Gifu University.

The UGSVS strives to do the following:
  1. Train outstanding researchers and technologists with the expertise and practical skills to contribute to the progress of veterinary sciences and related industries.
  2. Promote international cooperation. International students are most welcome.
  3. Stimulate and foster mutual exchange and professional leadership in education and research. To this end, the UGSVS has established collaborative ties with the National Institute of Infectious, the National Institute of Health Sciences, the National Institute of Animal Health, the Japan Racing Association Equine Research Institute, and Central Institute for Experimental Animals.
  4. Contribute to the development of veterinary sciences and technology.

The UGSVS provides a wide range of education and research opportunities through the cooperation of four universities and five national research institutes.

In March, 2023, UGSVS Gifu University cancel collaborative with the National Institute of Health Science, one of the collaborative institutes.
