History

April 1990 The doctoral course of the United Graduate School of Veterinary Sciences is established through the cooperation of graduate veterinary programs at four member universities. These universities are the Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Iwate university, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, and Gifu University.
December 1993 Offices and research facilities open at the Gifu University campus.
March 1994 The first PhD degrees in Veterinary Sciences are awarded to eleven students including one international student.
April 2001 Collaborative ties are established with the National Institute of Infectious Diseases under the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
April 2003 Collaborative ties are established with the National Institute of Health Sciences under the Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare.
April 2004 Collaborative ties are established with the National Institute of Animal Health.
April 2004 Under Japanfs National University Corporation Act granting national universities great autonomy, the four UGSVS member universities become national university corporations.
December 2008 Collaborative ties are established with the JRA Equine Research Institute.
May 2014 Collaborative ties are established with Central Institute for Experimental Animals.
