INVITATION
@@Progress in many fields of rose research continues all over the world so that it is time once again to gather and share research results and ideas with our colleagues. From breeding and genetics to economics and marketing, from propagation and production techniques to postharvest practices and physiology, from biotechnology and crop modeling to disease and pest resistance and management, all aspects of rose research are expected to be represented at the symposium. Information on cut, garden, and pot roses will be included. Oral and Poster presentation sessions are planned in an intimate setting with plenty of time for interaction with colleagues, old and new. A mid-week professional tour and a post-symposium tour will afford you unique opportunities to see cut and pot rose production sites and a tour of the research field in Suntory Ltd. and a chance to come in contact with Japanese culture(Japanese gardens and arts) in Kyoto.
@@The venue for the symposium is located in the center of Japan and this region including Gifu is a prominent flower production area in Japan. In Gifu, there is a famous rose garden, Flower Festival Commemorative Park which is the worldfs greatest rose garden having a great collection of roses(more than 7000 varieties). We do hope to introduce this park to you all. In addition, an ancient city Kyoto is near to Gifu, so we are planning post-symposium tour there. There are many opportunities to see sightseeing spots for accompanying persons and for those who wish to spend time during the symposium. We are looking forward to welcoming you to Gifu in May 2009.
