About the Japanese Language & Culture Studies Course

Objectives

This one-year (11 months) course is designed to help undergraduate students of Japanese language and culture develop their Japanese language proficiency, and to provide basic knowledge about Japanese culture and research methodologies for their future study and research on Japanese language and culture.

Structure

Classes in this Course are designed solely for "Japanese Language and Culture Studies" students who are aiming for the most effective training/learning during their one-year stay at Gifu University. However, regular classes for Japanese students offered by the University are also available on request and consultation. The Course also includes a class in cross-cultural communication, so that students of the Course have opportunities to mix with Japanese students.

Characteristics

Students are placed in the most appropriate level of Japanese class according to their language ability. Doing this ensure that students’ Japanese proficiency will progress and develop more effectively. A variety of culture classes are offered to suit students' research interests and each student will be appointed an academic supervisor to meticulously guides them in completing their thesis during the Course. Not a few students finished this course came back to Japan to study through Master courses in Japanese University.
