  Most classes at Gifu University are taught in Japanese, unless specified otherwise. Those who wish to enroll in the bachelor's degree program must have sufficient proficiency in Japanese upon entering the University. There is no faculty for Japanese language learning at Gifu University. It is highly recommended that a high level of Japanese proficiency be acquired before entering the University.

 

Admission requirements

  To be admitted as an international student, besides taking the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU), which is conducted by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), and TOEFL, you must meet requirements (1), (2), and (3) listed below. Please double confirm that you meet these requirements through our Japanese website.

1. You must not hold Japanese nationality.
2. You must satisfy one of the following 5 criteria.
1. You have completed twelve years of school education overseas.
2. You have been recognized as having academic ability equivalent to the above and approved by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
3. You have obtained the International Baccalaureate given by the Baccalaurean Office in Switzerland and reached the age of eighteen.
4. You have been awarded an Abitur by the Federal Republic of Germany and reached the age of eighteen.
5. You have been awarded a Baccalaureate by the French Republic and reached the age of eighteen.
3. You must have "College Student" status under the Immigration-Control and Refugee-Recognition Act or be expected to hold "College Student" status.

Application Procedures and Entrance Examination

  Please obtain an application form (Japanese only) from the Admission Division, Educational Affairs Department. Detailed information on the application procedures and entrance examination is provided on the application form. The application forms are available in mid-October. The application procedures, date, place and method of examination vary by year.
