Summer Tour for Foreign Students

Toyota Kaikan Museum

Our faculty organizes a 2-day summer tour every year for the International Students studying in the faculty of Engineering to have a chance to visit nearby research institute and private sectors as well as historical tourist spots. Since a big part of the expenses of the tour is subsidized by the faculty, the students only have to pay a very small amount of participation fee, which include the transportation and hotel fee. The announcement of application and the tour itself are normally scheduled in June-July and August, respectively.
In 2009, 37 international students together with 2 faculty staff visited the Toyota Plant, Toyota Kaikan Museum, the National Institute for Fusion Science, and also an historical old town called Tsumago-juku in the Nagoya Prefecture.

Study Tours Organized by the International Student Center

Besides the summer tour organized by our faculty, the International Student Center of Gifu University also organizes study tours twice a year for the international students in our university. The study tours are normally held once in summer and winter with limited number of participation on a first come fist serve basis. Students who are fist timers joining the tour will be given priority and 2nd-timers or 3rd-timers are also allowed to apply if the number of participation is not reached.
The summer tour is usually a 2-day-1-night trip at popular historical places such as Kyoto, Nara, Takayama, Shirakawa, Kamikouchi, and etc, while the winter study tour is ski lessons guided by professional ski instructors at distinguish ski resorts in the Nagoya Prefecture. The 3-day-2-night ski school/camp is normally scheduled soon after the New Year in early January.
