In this Division students study recent knowledge about agricultural food production and environment management and technology that is applicable in these areas. They acquire abilities which enable them to make international contributions to resolve global problems such as want of food and environmental destruction.
Organization of the Division
The Division comprises two courses, Bio-resource Production Science and Environment Science and Ecology.
1) Bio-resource Production Science
Department of Plant Science
The Department is organized into fields such as Plant Molecular Genetics, Plant Genetics and Breeding, Plant Physiology, Plant Pathology, Environmental Control in Plant Production, Crop Science, and Horticultural Plant Production. Students learn about problems such as the green-house effect and pollution in cultivated fields, and they study basic science and technology concerning the sustainable production and supply of plants and crops. They also study the technology to develop novel plant products and cultivating systems.
Department of Animal Science
The Department is organized into fields such as Animal Developmental Biology, Animal Genetics and Breeding, Animal Reproduction, and Animal Feeding and Nutrition. Students study advanced knowledge of zoology of domestic or zoo animals, and the technology concerning the sustainable production of domestic animals, the conservation of wild or zoo animals, and the welfare of animals.
Department of International Agro-biology
The Department is organized into fields such as International Agricultural Resources, Watershed Environments, International Agro-ecology, Agronomy, Agricultural Management, and Agro-environmental Informatics. Students study from a global viewpoint the remote sensing measurement of forest and farmland, the technology to maintain water resources and watershed environments, social and economical analyses of rural areas and their production, and also agronomy based on agro-ecology.

2) Environment Science and Ecology
Department of Field Ecology
The Department is organized into areas such as Forest Resources and Management, Forest Ecology, Ecological and Environmental Management, Conservation Ecology, Insect Ecology, and Water Resource Environments. Students study advanced knowledge of forest, farmland and river environments, and they learn the technology to analyze them by molecular, morphological and ecological methods, and learn to construct ecological models. They further study the conservation and repair of natural environments and relationships of agriculture and forestry to environments.
Department of Bioenvironmental Engineering
This Department is organized into areas such as Water Resources Engineering, Soil Environment, Environmental Engineering for Agricultural Facilities, Geotechnical Engineering for the Environment, and Rural Resources Management. Students study the preservation, management and remediation of water resource environments and soil areas, and the conservation of agricultural facilities from the viewpoint of maintaining biological resources and their eco-systems. They further study management for the sustainable usage of farmland, forest and marginal communities.
